"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences. "

Oh the places we'll go! Vacation - Day 9 & 10

Knowing that the last two days of vacation where uneventful & lack the luster of the past weeks adventures, I'm going to go ahead and post them as one and call it good. :)

Saturday 8/7

We took our time getting up this morning. I think the combination of a week of late nights and the let down that our vacation was almost over had started to weigh on us. We packed things up, loaded the car, checked out of the hotel and decided to stop at Downtown Disney on the way out of town for one last Disney fix (10ish). We wandered around taking in the Disney Details and did a bit more shopping. The Daughter decided to use her leftover money to get a watch. (We used another 20% off coupon!). Realizing that really needed to hit the road soon we headed back to the car to embark on our journey home…… :(

We hopped on the 5 (11:45am) and did the stop, move a few feet and stop again dance the entire way through L.A. Shortly after entering the grapevine and breaking free of the congestion The Little Man started puking. We spent a half hour cleaning him & the car up and pumped him full of more Dramamine. Our kids seem to be notorious for puking in this area if we had to endure any traffic. Car sick kids are never fun. Nor is the smell that permeates the vehicle. Good times! Glad I packed the garbage bags to seal up all the stinky items and fabreeze & the yellow trees to help contain/mask things.

We stopped in Wheeler Ridge, CA (gas, potty & Mcdonalds), Patterson,CA (gas & potty), and Woodland, CA (dinner @ In-n-Out Burger) before calling it a day at Redding, CA at 9:50pm.

Traveled a total of 596 miles today.

Sunday 8/8 (Day 10)

Got up, refueled the van & hit the road by 9 am. Not quite as early as we had wanted but fine none the less. The trip was uneventful. Nothing really happen. We had a few cranky moments here or there but what do you expect when we’ve been in the car for the second day in a row with nothing but going home to look forward too?

We stopped in Klamath Falls, OR (to potty), Bend, OR (gas, potty & lunch @ KFC) and Boardman, OR (to potty) before arriving home at 6:30pm. We traveled 542 miles today.

It felt nice to be home however no one was looking forward to going back to the daily grind.

Let’s go on vacation again!

In Summary

We traveled a total of 2361 miles. Traveled through 6 states (Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada & California.) Took 549 photos. Saw lots of sights. Laughed uncontrollably. Enjoyed every second of being together. And created lasting memories. I’d say the trip was a success!
