We had an amazing opportunity to attend a family enrichment conference this past weekend put on by Families Together. It was an awesome program designed to serve families with delayed or disabled children. You can learn more about Families Together by going to their website:
http://www.familiestogether.org/. The parents attended workshops with parenting & special education experts from around the country, while the kids went to their own “classes” to have fun and make new friends. Each child was assigned a college student for the weekend to be their companion, while their parents where away. It was great to know that our children had one-on-one attention all day, which is something they don’t always get at home. : ) Here are the kids with their companions:

The theme for the
children's program was BACK TO THE FUTURE, hence the
Dolorian.

Thank you so much
Saya & Elizabeth for volunteering your time this weekend & for making sure that my children had a great time. We really appreciate it!!!

We had the opportunity to hear from Mac
Bledsoe (father of NFL quarterback Drew
Bledsoe) who is the founder of an organization called Parenting with Dignity. You can learn more about his program at:
http://parentingwithdignity.com/. He has a great program and is a very outgoing person (and at times very intimidating. I thought Randy was going to crawl under the table when he pointed to him and said “You dads have no excuse…”). He spoke to us afterwards and his great advice for Randy was “your daughter is gorgeous…buy a gun!”. That made us chuckle a bit and
of course now Randy is trying to convince me that he needs to get one. We will see when that day comes. : )
