Dairy Days

That's right, welcome to Idaho! Evidently we have moved to the dairy center of Idaho & boy do they know how to celebrate it! Yesterday they kicked off the celebration with the "Real Dairy Parade." Here a recap of first experience...it sure was interesting!

The parade is just the beginning of the festivities. They have a huge festival in the park, the "Dairy Dash" (a bike race for the kids), the "Milk Run" (5k race), "Milk Mocktail" contest, a COW WOW art contest (there is cow art everywhere!), and of course a carnival. Unfortunately, by the time the parade was over we were all feeling horrible and by this morning all have full blown colds! I am so bummed that we can't check out the rest of the festivities. I guess partaking of Milkshakes will be the extent of our partiness this weekend. :(

Thunder over Nampa

We are totally loving our new home & all of the constant activity that is going on around us! We head over to Nampa for their annual airshow last Saturday & despite all of us getting sun burnt, we had a great time being surrounded by aircraft fumes! It sure makes me miss the Arlington Airshow and our days running the Titan booth. Good times... :)



Did you notice how nice the weather is here? It is hot & sunny and we are loving it!!!!

Monday:
It took one trailer, three vehicles, most of a day and great Pullman friends to fit all of our stuff in. (I do have one question...Where did all that stuff come from?)We hurried & cleaned the old apt. & we headed to the Tri-Cities in time to hit a horrible wind storm.

[In the frantic fight to fit everything in & get things clean, I neglected to take any pictures...I can't believe it!]

Tuesday:
Here is the van all loaded up with happy kids and all...

The drive started out uneventful, with the normal "are we there yet?" questions and potty stops until we hit Cabbage Hill...that was when it really got fun! It was blizzard like conditions with 3-4 inches of snow on the road. Ya, it's June...must be global warming?! (I didn't dare attempt to take a picture while driving in the snow...this is in La Grande)

All is well...everyone made it through the pass and were enjoying the "Across the Universe" soundtrack (BTW...love it) when this happened to the trailer...

Luckily Dad was able to keep the trailer under control & get it to the side of the road. No worries...we had a spare. The Boys (really my Dad) were able to get the spare on and we then had to search for a the nearest tire shop.

We were able to find a truck stop & get a new tire...things were good again!

Only 35 miles to go...it's a bit hard to focus & drive at the same time...will have to work on that :)

Now we are left with a sea of boxes that we are slowly but surely getting unpacked and having some fun in our new town in between. Thank you so much to everyone that helped us with the move...we greatly appreciate it! :)

A place to call home

Yep, that's right we finally have a place to live in Boise when we get there(in 2-weeks). Nothing like coming down to the last few weeks to make you sweat! Our faith has been tested, our testimonies have grown & we have found a place that while we may not have original considered it, is prefect for our family. Now that we have housing figured out, lets get this move over with!!!

a road trip to Boise

For all those how do not know...we are moving to Boise. That's right BOISE! Randy excepted a job and we are totally excited. I can't wait to have all of the moving details finalized and just be done with it. Have I mentioned that we have never been to Boise and we don't have a place to live when we get there? That right! Can you say totally STRESSED?!

In hopes of finding housing & familiarizing ourselves with the town before driving a moving truck full of our stuff down, we decided to take a little road trip.

Note to all of you from the Palouse...driving hwy 95 (especially really late at night) totally SUCKS! Everyone will tell you that it is beautiful (which it was...at least what we saw before it got too dark) but no one mentions that it takes forever! I can't wait to live some where with interstate highways again! On a good note... I do want to go visit some of the spots we saw along the Salmon River once we get moved down there. Those little towns looked so fun.

We spend two days house hunting and came back with two good prospects but nothing final (still so stressful!).

The kids did great the whole time and we made sure to check out the parks (a.k.a play at all of them) that we came across. We have been so blessed to have such great travelers! Thank you kids for being so much fun and easy going.

This is what the little man did pretty much the whole trip down & back. I don't recall him crying at all while we traveled or looked at houses. GOOD BOY!

While in town we discovered that they have a zoo downtown and we just had to check it out. It was a really nice and super cheap. They offer annual family passes for only $50...we will definitely be doing that!

This is the crazy girl with the Llamas...for some reason she loves to see them (we have them all over the Palouse). I am a little confused as to why they would have llamas at the zoo. Aren't they just a farm animal? This is Sally with the llamas. No I did not post the wrong picture, Sally is there. She is my daughter's imaginary friend that happens to be a llama (that talks and does little girl things according to my daughter).

This monkey was super friendly & posed as soon as I got out the camera...if only I had brought my good camera. Guess that will teach me, good thing I had the point & shot with me to at least capture some of our moments.

and finally out navigator...she had a great time looking at the maps & talking our ears off!

We had a great time & are feeling a little better about the move. Now if only we could get our housing squared away! Keep us in your thoughts & prayers as we make this major life change...we need all the help we can get. : )
